I've spent about 1 1/2 months on Facebook all day and boy does it suck. It's better than Myspace but not much better. I've got 500+ (mostly random) friends so I certainly have a wide range of people, ages, etc.
I had some dumbshit chick complaining about me saying Facebook sucks on my profile. haha. I blocked her.

You have to be careful too, a lot of profiles are fake and are only there to get personal info, or employers spying etc.
I`m a little hazy on the details, but my old fraternity invited me down to a party a couple of years ago. Being that it was a Friday night and I had gotten up early for work that morning, I was ostensibly a grown-up and tired so didn`t feel like making the three hour drive. Anyway, the guys sent out invites using the Facebook event thing and let anyone invite other people on Facebook.
It seems one of the profiles that got invited was a front for the ATF and so the party ended up getting raided. I don`t think anyone was arrested and the other alumni that went weren`t held responsible, but I think the current brothers had to pay a fine of some sort. Glad I didn`t go.

Many digg users have the same complaints about facebook. Like DOS said, you`re doing it wrong. My friends are ALL people that I know in real life. Some are current friends, some past friends, some people I won`t ever be real `friends` with that are just contacts of people I know from work. Networking. Then there is family. Direct family, indirect family, cousins. I never had the care factor in me to stay in touch with distant family, but with facebook you can stay in touch without ever having to speak to the people. I have a cousin who has a baby, and I know roughly how old that kid is. I don`t really give a shit, but I know anyway, and that`s ok with me. X-Girlfriends, girls I talked to in junior high and high school, girls from college. Facebook can be a good tool for a single person. Last but not least, I don`t play farmville and block all applications from my news feed. 1/3rd of my facebook friends are hidden from my news feed for being boring or lame.

I used to use Facebook all the time in college when it wasn't COMPLETELY bloated with bullshit. It was actually useful then to find out about parties and keep in touch with people that I didn't really call on a regular basis but might still want to hang out with occasionally.
Now it's a joke. They're trying to make it MyTwitterSpaceBook. So ridiculously bloated with shit that should never have been implemented. I block tons of crap from appearing on my home page, and it's still like wading through garbage to get to anything useful. Nowadays I just get on once a week to check my messages and that's it.

I got on there during my job search late last year. Within a week I started seeing invites from people I went to high school with. I added them thinking it was a novelty. Then relatives started asking for invites. Then people I didn't know started asking for invites.
To this day I have not one picture on my page, I never post or spam anything on there, and it seems to me like a complete waste of time. Even my workplace blocks that place, and the reason on it is funny - "R-Rated"
