| That chinese building was pre-assembled in a factory. So it wasn`t really "built" in 15 days... more like "final assembly" only took 15 days.
And I`d have no problem staying there due to safety concerns, but I`d rather not live in China. |

| RE: 'Piracy' student Richard O'Dwyer loses extradition case...
How utterly disgusting. The whole point of extradition is so that criminals are unable to flee to another country to escape justice in their own country.
This story is about a UK citizen being extradited to a foreign country (US) for foreign "crimes" committed on UK soil which his own government is unwilling to prosecute him for. That's just insanity. |

| re: Romney
Romney is not the worst. Romney is the finest GOP candidate that this nation has seen since Reagan. He's honest.
He's a family man who hasn't divorced or got screwed up relatives.
He's wealthy, by his own intelligence.
He values hard work and merit, instead of handouts to dumb-ass Americans.
He pays more taxes than you or I ever will.
He created far more jobs than he ever pruned.
He surrounds himself with good people. (Unlike Obama who is fairly accused of Cronyism.)
He has economic experience unlike other candidates like Gingrich who thinks that mining on the moon is a realistic possibility.
He'll turn America around, unlike Obama who promised change but didn't deliver.
And finally, McCain was an old prune. Gingrich is the equivalent of McCain today: career politician with wrinkles and a fat-ass.
Romney is much younger and will beat Obama if he's given the chance.

Honest? Nobody knows what the guy stands for anymore because he's been on both sides of just about every issue he opens his mouth about. Obama didn't deliver on all of his promises but for the most part he has been consistent about his beliefs and political positions. Say what you want about Ron Paul, but he's as honest as they come.
He pays more taxes than you or I ever will.
That statement is disingenuous and lacks any context. Sure, in pure dollar amounts he pays more but as a percentage he pays less. Not to mention that he disproportionately earns many times more than the average joe does. That's not a knock against the man, that's just a simple fact. Personally, I'd gladly pay 30%-35% tax rate if I was pulling in the money he does.
All that being said, Romney is shaping up to be the front runner against Obama in the next election. I sincerely hope his positions become more solidified once he's left the craziness of the GOP primaries behind. |

| Romney only pays 15% income tax because the only income he is receiving is from investments. Investments are set at 15% for long term (longer than 1 year) investments to ENCOURAGE investments in business. It's 15% for EVERYONE. This is the same for Warren Buffet. If Warren Buffet and Romney were paid in wages what they made in investments, they'd be getting taxed a hell of a lot more.
There is nothing wrong with investing and paying 15% tax. You want to increase how much they pay in taxes? Then you'll destroy what's left of our fragile economy because nobody will take the risk of having to pay 40-50% taxes on investments. |

| He just hates him because he is Mormon. I only like him for the same reason.
Then again, I don`t really listen to what the candidates say until after the primaries. However, the only two candidates I would vote for are Romney or Paul. Romney because I believe he is honest. Paul because he would mix things up.

Actually as a percentage he pays MORE than the average American Joe.
That isn't even factoring the fact that he is being double taxed. Considering his income is investment income he is in fact an owner of a business that is already paying a 35% tax rate on the income that company earns him. Only when he chooses to realize the gains of those earnings does he pay ANOTHER 15% from that. That is why most informed people want to eliminate capital gains tax.

| I'm sorry, but saying that Obama doesn't talk out of both sides of his mouth on a regular basis is simply asine. The man made so many promises during the election that he never had any intention of keeping...it's ridiculous. He would have said ANYTHING to get elected...much like Romney. They're both slimey politicians as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather vote for someone less well known that's honest and willing to do what's necessary instead of promising this that and the other to get elected. The best candidate would do "what's right". |

| The problem is you don't get elected these days without promising things you can't keep. People are just too ignorant of the Constitutional powers of the Executive branch to base their votes on promises the President is capable of actually coming through on.
Elections are all about thinking and talking very large and the masses all buy into it.

It will be interesting to see how Romney performs in an actual debate with Obama, when he won't be able to coast on simply being the only candidate who is not a complete freakball anymore. Whatever you think about Obama as a president, the guy has proven himself to be an extremely organized and polished campaigner. |

| You know, it is funny. About the only thing that I wanted from all of Obama's promises is the closing of Guantanamo... and that didn't happen because of stupid republicans.... and not necessarily the politician, but all of them that didn't want the inmates sent to their home states. We have more than the facilities to take care of the inmates in Gitmo for life... and the republicans prevented it due to ridiculous fears. Fears such as them contaminating our own inmates with muslim extremism, or fears that they might escape and hurt the populous... guess what that might happen now with any inmate.
But other than that, obama has done all the wrong things for the country. As for romney, he is kind of a slippery cat when it comes to his convictions. But I realized a long time ago that I would MUCH rather have a politician change his mind over time (along with the opinions of the american people) than to just do whatever the lobbyist pay them to. In fact I would rather have a politician that might only have 1 or 2 convictions and then just do whatever his constituents wanted.... Romney is almost that. His people in Massachusetts wanted healthcare... he helped them get it (and the MA Congress changed it significantly from what romeny designed). He really is plain. He really is boring. IT is time we stop electing a guy who would be good to have a beer with and instead elect a guy who would rather look at spreadsheets all night and be a social hermit. All this too good robot, too good stuff is BS. Why can't we want that in a president? Everyone who gives that analysis doesn't know him. You read accounts of people who know him in person say that he is super nice, super honest, and probably the most important is that he is super reliable... get things done kind of guy. WE need that. What you don't hear is any body vouching for Obama in his past when he went to school. Not classmates, not teachers.... nobody. It is almost as if he wasn't actually there.
IT is funny hearing both sides of the aisle. Liberals are gonna paint romney as WAY to conservative. Convervatives are now trying to paint romney as WAY to liberal. It is funny, for all the attacks of Gingrich on Romney and his 15%, Gingrich's proposed tax plan eliminates capital gains tax ALTOGETHER while romneys only eliminates it for those making less than 200K a year. That is me and you, the common folk.
IN the end though, I know Romney would do a HELL of a lot more to clean up the economy than Obama will (hey guys lets borrow another trillion, Krugman says it is the way to go).
Edit: Oh and another thing. I would rather Romney wait till April. With a debate with obama and him asking romeny to release his taxes, romney can respond that he will when Obama releases his transcripts and educational documents. It really would be interesting to find out if Obama got foreign aid scholarships by claiming to be non-american.

Haha, it's funny to see Romney supporters try to turn being basically unlikeable into an asset.
For the record, I have never looked at Romney as being a "rather look at spreadsheets all night and be a social hermit" kind of guy. Romney is the guy who buys the social hermit spreadsheet guy's company and then fires him. If this was Caddyshack 7, all the social hermit spreadsheet guys golfers would be banding together to steal Mitt Romney's country club using cutting edge finance macros and good natured underpants-related prankery. |
