I was awoken at 4 a.m. to learn there's some animal up in the attic CHEWING. I paid $800 for that damn attic fan and it hasn't cooled the house at all. And I think that gave an opening for whatever that is up there, to get in there. I wonder how much it will cost to get rid of it. Last time a mouse got up there and died then the house started stinking.

There should be some way to attach some galvanized hardware cloth (like heavy duty screen, approx 1/4" square holes in it) over the fan opening and vent/louver openings. That would fix the problem, but make sure whatever it is is not in there when you cover them - they could eat through into the house if you do seal them in and even if they don't, you would get the smell again when they die.
