My chick's brother-in-law has worked in the space industry for like 12+ years? Anyway turns out the business is dead. They shut down the space shuttle program and they said that a TON of programs have been shut down without it showing up in the press. So they're sitting around with nothing to do or looking for other jobs.
What's funny is people keep talking about being an astronaut as the classic example of what you can be and finally it's not someone you can actually be anymore.
I think space is good for technology innovations but otherwise kinda unless since I don't think we'll ever be moving to other planets or finding other life. But it's sure a lot better to spend our money on that instead of rebuilding IRAQ or all the other scams the gov uses our money on.
If you`re looking for another wife out in space you may be disappointed. However, I think this is a big mistake by Obama. Maybe not in the next 20 years, but in the next 100 space IS going to be necessary for our future and the more we put it off the longer it`ll take to get where we need to be. Not only that, but what if another country gets ahead of us? By the time we catch up the Chinese may dominate the rest of the solar system.
Just think about the resources we can find on other planets. Find a dead world with all the mineral deposits we`d need, and you can mine to your heats content and not even worry about the environmental impact on that planet. Eventually we`re going to be overcrowded on this planet and resources will eventually run out. Where can we expect to find more if not space? Even if there is no life anywhere else, we`d need to expand or die. I think Hawking said it best in a relatively recent interview.

What cracks me up about this whole argument, is people "assume" illegals want to live here. They don't. Yes, you heard me, they don't want to live in this great country of ours. Ask ANY illegal especially from our neighbor in the south, and they will tell you they would leave here in a heartbeat, if they could come back and work when needed.
Problem is, immigration enforcement has gotten so good, it's a pain in the ass to move back and forth, and the price of coyotes has gone up. It's just cheaper to stay here.
Regardless, America needs cheap labor. Institute a plan that will allow "illegals" to work here during the growing seasons. Have farmers in the US pay a finders fee to Homeland Security, which in turns grants permits to migrant workers to be employed here seasonally. Restaurants, hotels, etc, etc, can apply for special workers. Farmers and Tourism get cheap labor, illegals get to work here "legally" and go back home. No new taxes are created. Everything is paid for by businesses. Business that don't comply get fined up the ass. $1,000 for a first offense, $3000 for a second, and shut down for a third offense.

And even if no illegal immigrant ever committed a violent crime, well, they are often still a drain on our nation because of the benefits they receive relevant to the barely existent taxes they pay (they`re illegal, remember? Barely any pay and no social security number) and the large amount of kids they have that basically become the responsibility of the state to take care of.
And just because I may not currently be directly effected by the problem doesn`t mean I won`t be in the future or that it isn`t worth discussing. How many illegals do you think Obama ran into in Illinois? He still has a pretty extreme stance, given that he hasn`t witnessed the problem first hand.

Well I'm really pissed at smokers right now. Yesterday I was at the pool and some ahole sat outside it and smoked and we had to smell it.
At the Spectrum (mall) so many people were smoking last night, and all in the middle of people. They didn't care.
Maybe it's my own warped perspective, but in my personal experience, smokers are generally the most inconsiderate people in the world. I especially love when I see someone smoking in their car with all windows rolled up and children in the back.
I also hate how designated smoking areas at malls/office buildings are generally right at the entrance so you have to walk through their poison cloud just to get inside.
