Copter shot down, killing 30 US troops, 8 Afghans
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on August 7th, 2011 @ 12:42AM

Link - Horrible! What a national tragedy.

Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite Navy SEALs unit that killed Osama bin Laden, as well as seven Afghan commandos, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war.

None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit.

The casualties are believed to be largest loss of life in the history of SEAL Team Six, officially called the Navy Special Warfare Development Group, or DEVGRU. The team is considered the best of the best among the already elite SEALs, which numbers 3,000 personnel.

Worst US loss of life in Afghan war as helicopter crash kills 38

Boeing CH-47 Chinook - That thing is such a piece of shit. No wonder they got it. I hate those helicopters. Every time I see one, I wonder why they can't come up with a better helicopter.

Thing is, there will always be some @$$holes in every war that will transform from human beings to bloodthirsty savages. Unfortunately, that's just the natural side effect of war, that or PTSD.

The article about two snipers in Afghanistan has the beginnings of the same atrocity. Sure, they were shooting the insurgents, but they were doing it indiscriminately, methodically, and mercilessly. Also, I'm sure most of the insurgents they shot didn't have their weapons on hand.

Bottom line, the only difference between the 'hero' snipers and the 'death squad' was who ratified the killings. Also, I guess the snipers didn't cut the pieces of their victims' bodies for keepsakes (they did put the notches up, though. Same thing).

NATO code compromise
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on May 13th, 2010 @ 9:10AM

Did anyone doubt that the Russians shot down the airplane?

Circumstantially, the evidence is starting to mount.
1. Denying the black boxes
2. Blaming the crash on pilot error MINUTES after the flight.
3. Russian investigators denying access and transparency.
4. High value target
5. Easy to blame an old aircraft
6. Confiscating the NATO codes

This was a planned hit from the beginning, and it`s a particularly dirty piece of spy work.

Army: Fort Hood Gunman in Custody After 13 Killed

Continue reading "Army: Fort Hood Gunman in Custody After 13 Killed" ...

I find it laughable to equate the frequency and scale of Muslim terrorist attacks with Christianity. This is a classic case of deflection. To feel good about ourselves not singling out one particular faith, we throw other faiths into the debate..... Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban are VERY popular in the Muslim world, with significant sympathy here in the west as well, especially the UK. That speaks of a MORAL failure within Islam as a whole to address the issue and prevent terrorist attacks.

The overwhelming majority of evangelical Christians around the world would condemn murder of abortion doctors. But the overwhelming majority of majority of Muslims in the world would think what the Ft. Hood traitor did is wonderful!

This b.s. about religion itself being the problem --- if there truly was no religion, people would find other things to fight for as well. Penn and Teller (who actually hate religion) dealt with this issue, and South Park had a great satire about how in the future world of atheists only, atheists will fight over who`s science is better.
The human condition is flawed, with or without religion. We can always find SOMETHING to fight about. Most wars are economic or politically driven - not religiously driven. But we can make the argument that radical Islamic philosophy IS driving this war.

People have done many EVIL things in the name of Christ - I concede that point. I`m sure they will in the future as well. But I am curious why it is not Christians that are targeting masses of people subway stations, skyscrapers full of people, Mosques (instead of the churches Muslims regularly attack), pizza parlors, malls, schools, and other soft targets in the modern age. Those of you who are `progressive` should be praising Christianity for it`s progress away from the evils of the middle ages, while holding Islam into account for it`s continuance of violence against the `unbelievers everywhere`.

Another point - trying to attribute Hitler`s evil deeds to Christianity is a stretch at best. It is well known, and documented, that Hitler was into the occult, and in fact, may have considered himself `God`. Additionally, he tried to influence German Christians by have any positive mention of Hebrews or Jews out of the Bible. Clearly, the story of ancient Israel, and the Jews is central to the Christian world view of history and understanding of faith. Faith without the acceptance and understanding of Israel`s/Jewish role in Christianity is invalid - essentially, it is not Christian.

You progressives think `radical right` Christians are the biggest threat to the world.... you continue thinking that at your own peril. The right-wing Christian is not calling for you to die because you are not a Christian. But a large plurality in the Muslim world wants both you and the right wing Christian to convert or die.
