Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 28th, 2014 @ 10:08AM

I have to get my $2,000 worth of bad press for cops in retaliation. It might take many years. I could sure use that $2k now.

My Class: Learning to make a web page (NUH)
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 27th, 2014 @ 8:11PM

Update 7/27 - Reload for current version. I can't seem to get the side windows to stretch to 100% without screwing up the bottom bar using just CSS.

Update: - Is my progress. This time it's all CSS instead of tables. Anyone want to make me a good header?

This is my final.

Original Post
I spent 14+ hours trying to recreate this page here from our class. Turns out there was one error in my giant css that was breaking the whole page.

I joined a class "Creating a web page" at the local college. I hope I can pass it!

I thought you already knew this? Are you taking it because you're required to at work as part of a continuous improvement program?

Die hard 5, a good day to die hard

It wasn't as bad as people said but it was for sure the worst of the 5. The bad guy choices were horrible. His "kid" is an actor that plays a great DICK but isn't very likable.

Ingress Live Event Today @ San Diego
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 26th, 2014 @ 11:08PM

Today they had a special in-person game event by the creators of the game. Everyone was to meet up at 1pm in downtown San Diego. But the problem was that was comic con day. So the place was a mad house. I decided to take the train. I don't know if I came out ahead or behind. It was $52 vs. 180 miles of driving + parking. I took my bike and I don't know if the bike would have made it both ways. It fell off on the way to the train station. Luckily, it wasn't damaged. Phew. Then before I left the power went off while I was trying to get ready. And after that, as I'm leaving there's 2 cop cars, another cop car, cops all over re-directing us on the wrong side of the road. From what I could see, there was NO reason whatsoever. Thanks aholes.

I get on the train and actually got a great seat. Then I end up with a whole Mexican family on me. Which is better than a lot of other people ended up with. Some couldn't even sit. At one stop, 2 green players (other side got on). They didn't pick me out at all, probably disguised by the Mexican family. I notice one guy is wearing GOOGLE GLass. HAHAHAH. The 2 dudes bicker on the way down. (get a room fellas). At the end, I walk out and said GOOD LUCK NEWBS. Cuz they were.

I then had to meet up with the group solo at some park. But the GPS wasn't doing anything. I was going around all the wrong places until I found someone to follow. The blue group seemed pretty big. I was impressed. We then moved to the main event area near the Aircraft Carrier in San Diego. Then we discover we're outnumbered like 10-1. It was nuts. We were swallowed up by hordes of green players. Ug. Being outnumbered is something that I'm used to. I played outnumbered for 1 year, 5 months or so. We're finally pulling ahead in Irvine.

The game people then gathered people for a picture and gave some sort of speech. They should have had a megaphone cuz no one could hear them. They then passed out these packets which there were not all enough to go around. That left me pretty sad because the main reason I came was to get a special badge for my profile.

We had a lot of cool people from my team show up. I was really satisfied with my teammates. I saw a few nerdy people but otherwise there wasn't anyone I disliked. That's why blue is a better team. Their team was full of so many aholes.

After that, they sent us off. The people running it were cool and gave me a map. I set off, losing my group completely. I just wandered around and discovered every few feet was a PACK of 20 bad guys. Blah. I needed 126 unique portal hacks so I just focused on that, then worked my way up to where people said they were. I found my group eventually.

At stop 1, there was about 8 of us vs. 20-40+. It was nuts. We actually did pretty well, I think we won that corner, haha.

Stop 2, was next to Petco stadium which was horrible. There was no reception, and where I ended up it was just me vs. 25 green players. I took a couple of portals and held them but otherwise didn't accomplish much.

By that time it's like 3pm and I went to Del Taco. I used my new awesome bike lock to lock it in the ghetto so I could go to the bathroom. That place has no bathrooms. I got my tacos to go and found my group again. Stop 3 was at a corner of the college. The off-sides teams continued where it ended up being maybe 20 of us vs, 40-50 ? greens. We won that one too! Some people said that many of the greens were just family members and weren't actually playing. Who knows. I've always beat tons of greens by myself. Maybe they suck? haha.

Stop 4, it started to get ugly. The game devs would hide some packets for people to find with clues and then you'd take a picture and send it to your team to decode. Well our bike group found a packet, and there's only 1 to find. The big group of green started swearing and complained a whole bunch. I thought maybe we grabbed it while they were on it and they didn't notice it. But when I asked that, they said no. So then this where this giant nerdy ginger guy kept following our guy with the packet, trying to take pictures of the codes. Our guy was like BACK OFF. Get away with me, well captain nerd didn't give up. Our guy goes off to a corner, and captain beardless red beard goes and is hanging his phone over the guys shoulder down into his lap to try to take a picture. He didn't notice and I told him that was the perfect time to slap his phone out of his hand. OH well. Our guy, who was a BIG guy, got mad and went charging into the pack of 20+ greens, pretending to take pictures of the redbeard guy, and making fun of him. That's when we got a mouthy green girl (they all seem to be that way) tell him to walk away. Why didn't she use that fat mouth on the fat body to tell her own guy to get away from us. The stupid red guy was trying to cheat by taking pictures of our codes we found. This is how those aholes play. That's why over 22 of them in our area alone have been reset for cheating, while only 1 in our area has been reset. Dirty fux. During the event, one guy who was banned only 3 days ago was covering us all in giant fields. This game has more cheating than any game in history including FPS.

These green guys were so annoying. We'd gather in our teams/groups and then these green guys would stand in our group or hover over us the whole time trying to listen in. That's the kind lame shit they do to me in my own town with their play. We kept saying, get away from us. A few times people listened but most of the time they refused. If they're outnumbering 10-1, why do they gotta be aholes. At this one corner, this green guy on a bmx bike goes out into the middle of the street in traffic and does these lame attention whore tricks on his bike in a very dangerous manner. Way to go attention whore.

So after that, we go to 1 more stop where we won again as far as I know. Then the event is over and it's time for the after party.

The after part was actually super awesome. It's better than most parties I've gone to. They had great free food. A free drink. They had ingress theme inside. They gave me my badge finally I was complaining about earlier. They had books with the lore. They had contests etc. I give their party 10/10. Unfortunely the whole place was full of green people with a small pocket of blue. So the party guests could have been improved. One of our players said, man it stunk so bad I had to leave. hahaha. I had to leave early to catch my train.

It was a pretty cool event. I'd go again. The actual gameplay of the fights is super super super super boring. Imagine 60 people on top of 2 portals firing and replacing/fixing all in silence. It's soooo awkward having that many people with 0 reactions. Their side got a portal and they didn't even cheer or anything. That game is weird as hell to play in groups. I was imagining I'd bike all around and fight over all these portals but the areas they picked were so small that every portal has 20 people on it. But the people who can't bike need to be able to walk there so I guess that's how it is.

Their company did a really great job on their event. Turns out we lost the whole overall event by a few points. But we were very close and could have possibly won, some say with better cell reception. I was just after a badge so whatever!

I've had to eat at the Cafe for 6 years and 7 months. I sure get sick of the cafe. That's longer than 4 years of high school cafe. The food is decent but it gets old. That's 1,727 times of eating at the same place.

Options: Could bring things from home which some decide to do but I'm really picky eater and have little time to pack a lunch.

Drive somewhere? There's not many places nearby that are convenient or as cheap, our last location has more options.

IDF starts Gaza ground offensive
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 25th, 2014 @ 11:26AM

Infantry, Armored Corps, Engineering Corps, artillery and intelligence units are taking over various areas in Gaza, and are all working with one another and the air force. They are operating in central, and southern Gaza, where Hamas has dug an extensive terrorist tunnel network. The IDF’s Southern Command is overseeing the ground offensive.

I'm always rooting for God's chosen people.

I’m not some kind of doomsday prepper / survivalist, but this article really gave me pause. If there was a CME or some other cataclysmic event, life as we know it would change--and I don’t think there would be any easy path to recovery.

In the CME scenario, it would happen so fast that there would be almost no warning. Communications and power would be wiped out. Everyone would get isolated really quick. Even friends and family that are only 20 miles away would seem distant. Fuel and food production / distribution would be disrupted for months or even years. Emergency services would have no way of knowing if someone was having an emergency. Even then, how do they dispatch the calls to units on patrol? How would police/fire/ems respond if their vehicles have bone dry gas tanks? How do these responders even get to work in the first place? Same with doctors, nurses, etc. You can see that civil disorder and unmitigated emergencies would become commonplace--and quickly.

We saw with Fukushima that nuclear power plants require power in order to maintain their cooling systems. So if the power grid (including internal backup generators) gets fried around the globe, do all the nuclear power plants melt down within a week of one another?

Even if the power grid is miraculously restored in weeks or a few months, what about the economy? So much of our wealth is stored as 1s and 0s on servers. Those servers (and their backups) could be fried to such an extent that the data is irretrievable. How do employers get back to the business of being in business?

I have spent some hours pondering the what-ifs and going down mental rabbit holes regarding the various possibilities, and it’s truly frightening. I think most people believe that they’ll be able to see a disaster coming (like a hurricane or a slowly degrading civil situation), but this is something with no warning. It’s almost akin to a global nuclear war, but without the immediate destruction.

The only thing a family can do is be prepared--water purification, dried food goods, weapons for home defense, etc. I am now convinced that the cost of being prepared for something like this is small relative to the penalty for being unprepared.

That game is free and the best. You can do daily quests for more cards without paying or just win games for more cards.

7/25 - Check this out, I made 2 copies of the legendary archmage. When I casted a fireball, it made 3 more. haha.

I Super love Hearthstone.

My preferred way to play is to just get enough dailies to have 500-600 gold saved up. After that I have only played arena, choosing champions that would complete dailies. From there the daily gold and the arena gold make it self sustaining.

Right now there are too few cards to make ranked fun for me. All the decks are to similar. The game can only get better with more card choices though.

I've been playing the hell out of it. I've probably Opened 60-70 packs of cards by now and have thus far avoided the cash shop.

The game is getting less and less fun to play for me as I've been going up against more and more people playing with literally 10-15 legendary cards and the game becomes less strategic and more about who has spent the most time/money for the best cards.

Sure a guy with a shitty deck can beat a guy with a legendary deck but only if the guy with legendaries is bad or has extremely bad luck with his draws.

It's very easy to learn Blazer. I found the tutorial built into the game itself extremely helpful in teaching you the ins and outs of the game. You can always practice against the AI and the higher difficulty AI isn't too bad.
