Red Dead Redemption
Posted by: Nebuchadnezzar on July 2nd, 2011 @ 10:42PM

7/2/2011

  • OK beat it for real now. They sure didn't tell you where to go for the next part.

  • Well I think I beat it. They just dump you at a house with no explanation. They didn't even run credits.

    6/15/2011

  • I can't for the life of me listen to the dialog or follow the story. Every time they talk I just tune out and wander off. I'm not really a story person when it comes to video games. I come from the Atari 2600 days where games had 0 story. Very few games do I find myself caring at all about the story (Fallout New Vegas, Mass Effect 2).
  • The aiming in that game sucks compared to Mass Effect 2 or La Noire.
  • That game really is the ultimate cowboy game you could ever find. I really haven't wanted any cowboy game though. I want the ultimate PIRATE game.

    6/13/2011

I loaded the game up and I'd last played 7/10/2010. Almost a year ago right before StarCraft II. I think I'm almost done with it. I'm at 18 hours played. I did a scene where there's a train and I'm manning a gattling gun. It' supposed to be fun but there's just 9 million guys shooting at you and you don't get a lot of satisfaction with your kills. Not in comparison to say Mass Effect 2 sniping people.

    7/14/10 -

  • Rumor: Rockstar Lays Off 40 From Red Dead Redemption Studio [Update]

Well I started playing again. I still haven't beat single player. I tried multiplayer a few times and it's way more fun than single. I'm just not as into this game as everyone else seems to be. I guess I prefer GTA San Andreas/Vice City.

    6/9/10 -

  • Red Dead Redemption Sells More than 5 Million, Cited as "Important New Franchise"

    6/7/10 -

  • I have maybe 10 hours played now. I have hard time making myself play. I keep shooting people by mistake, horses by mistake, running over people by mistake. etc.
  • Short Film, 30 mins

    5/26/10 -

  • 2 1/2 hours in now. I made the mistake of not completing the quests at the ranch and I never got a way to take criminals without killing them. Just a warning. I tried beating up people but they just died after 1000 hits, hahahahaha. Funny.
  • Red Dead Redemption machinima film airing on Fox this Saturday

MUST WATCH, even if you don't play

  • Funniest bug ever - Laughing to tears
  • Red Dead Bugs (Also watch these 3, skip the cougar one, watch the 3rd birds one and the last one. so f-ing funny)
  • Red Dead Redemption Review: Feel Good Outlaws

  • OK got my game finally.
  • Red Dead Redemption FAQ
  • Review: Red Dead Redemption (single-player)

Amazon says my copy will get here next Tuesday. Lame. Last time I do free shipping on something important.

I know about 10 people playing so far. They all love it. I like the story of killing the guy, then skinning his horse (WTFBBQ)

  • Red Dead Redemption Raises Irish Ire For Its Token Drunk

Skullder says the game is as good as the hype, he was up until 3am playing.

  • Red Dead Redemption's Truly, Truly Dastardly Achievement

Amazon.com has it for $20 off (gift card after) and some golden guns. Gamestop also has some other exclusive in-game content. We'll see if the game is any good but the movies look amazing.

I'm kinda burnt out on games lately. All I do is farmville.

So good. So very good. I was blown away in the first 15 minutes. It's GTA4 in the wild west, but it feels way more immersive and atmospheric.

Alan Wake also came out today, and I highly recommend you at least rent it. Really good game, but may not have enough replay value to warrant a purchase.

95% Metacritic, 97% Gamerankings (aggregate scores). That's pretty amazing. Here is a video review from Gamespot:

Really too bad that there's no PC version. Definitely something I'd get if it ever becomes available.

    Playing it.

    Loving it.

It has none of the stupidities that GTA4 had (e.g. stupid autoaim, washed-out appearance, clumsy gunplay, retarded tutorials) and a lot of good qualities.

    Definitely worth it.

The bouncing buggy glitch is common and highly annoying. I had to restart the game to fix it as it was causing me to be completely stuck on a mission.

Finished it in about 18 hours, doing as many sidequests I could find (but not trying to clean up on achievements).

SPOILER: Every 3rd letter in this jumble of characters

I killed a guy with a bullet to the leg once or maybe I placed too many shots on his horse either way disarming/taking bounties alive is challenging imo.

I am really liking the game too, though I also wish there was a pc version. I am a sucky shot with a PS3 controller, I need me a mouse/keyboard combo to have any shooter skill.

The only way to stop bad guys without killing them is to catch them with your lasso, then walk up to them and hit Y to hogtie them.

Tapar, you really need to exploit the aim assist. Hit the zoom button then quickly hit the fire button right after, and chances are you will nail whatever auto-aim hooked onto. Very late in the game, some quests are nearly impossible to complete without doing this.

I recently beat this after doing every sidequest and achievement.

It was a pretty good game, the story was pretty good but there were some parts that were VERY drawn out and boring (like the very end) after the first "climax".

I wish they made more "random world encounters", the same ones get boring after the 4th or 5th time doing them. The endlessl spawning grizzly and wolf bugs were annoying too when you'd try to skin a pack of wolves. They need a speed skin option where it just skips the cutscene for skinning.

Story, script and the acting on the part of the main character were top notch. Definately a game I'd buy a sequel too.

Be sure to turn on subtitles- it makes it a lot easier to follow the dialogue.

I can't even follow/process it with subtitles. It's like they're speaking another language. I think it's because it's just so uninteresting.

If you don't see the credits, it means you didn't beat it. Keep playing and doing the missions.

Exactly what DoS said. Keep going, you still have some game play left. I really liked RDR so much more than LA Noir, but I've always wanted a good Cowboy game.

Now, that's the final story mission. However, the story has no closure until
Jack -- who the player can now control -- completes the "Remember My Family"
stranger's task. This can be started in Blackwater immediately by visiting
    the train station.

If you're now controlling the son then yeah, the game is over. How did you like the ending compared to LA Noire?
