Caprica is an EXCELLENT show! It`s a parable of a potential downfall of our society! Decent acting too. Great prelude to BSG.
Stargate Universe... yeah, it`s kinda sucky. But that senator`s daughter is kinda hot. Plus they have great a score/music. I`ve found a few of my new favorite bands through that show. |

| HBO started a new drama called "Boardwalk Empire". It takes place during the prohibition era and has some heavyweights behind the show (eg. writer from Sopranos, Martin Scorsese). It shows a lot of promise. I watched the first episode and I think it's another winner for HBO. |

| The Dexter premier was kinda blah. If the entire season is going to just be about him covering his trail for the Trinity killing then the season is going to suck. The formula in the past has always been: He finds a kindred spirit, befriends them, and then in the last show he offs them all while trying to maintain a normal looking lifestyle with Rita, her family, and his job. This show was like the "Rita montage" and the foreshadowing of an impending investigation which is going to really cramp his style.

| Smallville did start out weird. I was confused enough I stopped at the credits and went back and watched the last two episodes of last season. I think I got it after that, but it really was all over the place and hard to follow. I spent a lot of the episode going "huh..what the hell is going on?....OOhhh, now I get it...that is lame." I still like the show though and hope it ramps up moving forward.
I am still on the fence about "An Ordinary Family", I liked "The Incredibles" so hopefully the show will be good. I like the actors for the mom and dad so there is a chance.
Shit My Dad Says was kind of a dissapointment, the twitter feed was great, but the show...felt like a bunch of one liners crammed in with a shoehorn. I like shatner enough that I will watch a few more though and see if it gets smoother. |

| Anyone see this new cartoon, Adventure Time? I was putzing around on a lazy Sunday and, being a child at heart, I saw a fat little dog and bright colors so I watched it for a few.
I was rolling after a few scenes. The dog is voiced by John Di Maggio, the guy who does Bender from Futurama, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, and countless other voice work. It's REALLY WEIRD and surreal but something about it makes my laugh. |

The two gay dudes on Modern Family are really well done and absolutely hilarious.
Then I watch a show like Glee and get pissed off within 5 minutes of the episode after being hit by a dozen horribly uncreative homo and "homophobe" stereotypes in a row, all while watching the gay kid wear pink boas and flit around like a fairy. How is that not offensive to gays? |

| I have been liking young justice so far. It is very much like the teen titans where they get all the main superhero's sidekicks together as a team.
I have always liked Robin as a character so that is cool. I haven't decided if they are ramping up the teen drama BS too much for my taste or not...I still look forward to the new episodes so they are walking the right side of the line for me so far.
Naruto is out of the filler finally (starting with ep 197)!
I have been really enjoying the series Castle as well. It is a fun show and I recommend watching them in order...it is not overly serialized but they do have developing characters and some background story arcs.

You might want to give Firefly a watch then check out the movie Serenity. It was only one season but when combined with the movie it makes a pretty decent show.

| For those interested, here's a few new shows I came across that look promising...
Show: Camelot
Network: Starz (Also made: Spartacus)
When: LINK (second episode just aired, plays on Fridays)
Thoughts: I'm a sucker for all things medieval so my level of expectation is generally lower than for other shows. That said I've enjoyed the show so far and their interpretation of Arthur, Merlin etc. Warning...the show contains nudity.
Show: The Killing
Network: AMC (Also made: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead)
When: LINK (starts Sunday April 3)
Thoughts: Saw the trailer for the show on AMC's website and it looks promising. Frankly given the network's track record it'll be a surprise if the show isn't a hit.
Show: The Borgias
Network: Showtime (Also made: Dexter, The Tudors)
When: LINK (starts Sunday April 3)
Thoughts: If the show is in any way similar to Mario Puzo's "The Family" than I'm going to love it.
Show: Game of Thrones
Network: HBO
When: LINK (starts Sunday April 17)
Thoughts: HBO's making it, 'nuff said.

| A Song of Ice and Fire has begun as one of the greatest fantasy stories ever told (it`s still not finished). Game of Thrones is just the first book. When reading these I`d say it didn`t really start to hit home for me as being interesting until about half way into GoT - a lot of Game of Thrones is setup for what is to happen in the upcoming books (which will be additional seasons on HBO if HBO continues to go on with it). Books 2-4 (Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords, Feast for Crows) are awesome.

It has some good suggestions on it so I half trust it's taste. It reminded me that I should re-watch Avatar: The Last Air Bender (TV show Notthe movie), The Tick, or Quantum Leap. Blue Bloods (starring Magnum PI) was renewed. It`s ok but the episodes follow too much of a formula with them discussing everything at the dinner table. It`s just The Commish™ in the big city.

| Re: gay GoT
Neither Renly or Loras are POV characters in the 1st book (nor 2-4th iirc) so there was no way for that scene to be in any of them unless there was a 3rd party to it that was a POV character. I didn`t think it was that subtle in the book that they were gay but apparently it was because I`ve ready many, many comments where people were shocked by their gayness. |

| "Game of Thrones is super exciting now. " - I`m glad you`ve finally seen the light.
Re: gay GoT
Yeah, they also changed Renly in the TV series. In the book, he`s described as being essentially a young version of Robert. He also takes part in the tournament and generally comes across as more.. well.. rugged and chivalrous.
Keep in mind, he`s still gay in the books. This has nothing to do with his gayness. He`s just presented differently. |

| Yeah I meant I knew they were gay in the book and figured most people did, but many didn`t judging by comments on other sites.
And yes I agree, in the book they were both portrayed as much as knights/warriors as any of the others, they just happen to be gay and no scenes as explicit as that were ever depicted.
Nebu if you think it`s super exciting now wait until next season when things get even crazier. |

| Reading the books for the first time again after a decade without reading them shows just how little HBO does them.
However, the series is still the best HBO has released that I've ever seen....probably my favorite of all time if they carry them all the way through all 5 books. |

| GoT TV show is doing a pretty good job of following the books. Of course they will/have to change certain things around from the books to the TV show. And that is an okay thing.
If you enjoy the show 'at all', do yourself a favor and pickup the most fantastic fantasy novels. |

| I don`t know if you`ve ever seen it, but the Hellsing TV series ia a lot of fun. I also recommend the OAV series, but with a few caveats: most of it is only available with fansubbing, the first few episodes aren`t that great, it`s quite a bit different stylistically than the TV series, and it`s just way too ridiculous at times. However, if you can get through the first few episodes, the OAV series opens up in a way that the TV series -wishes- it was able to, and the last few episodes have just been INSANELY FUN. |

| If you are looking for some time filler semi-interesting shows you might want to check out "Storage Wars" which is a show that follows some people around as they buy up storage lockers that are auctioned off for non-payment. The hook is seeing if they find anything in the lockers that can bring big bucks or if they overpaid and get nothing. It is more interesting than it sounds.
Another one that I am semi-checking out is "Swamp People". It is a show about the Louisiana Bayou and following the people who live in the swamp going to hunt alligators during the alligator hunting season. It is hard to define the appeal of this one, I am only a few episodes in so I don't know if it stays interesting. Still, so far it is holding my interest.
The 3rd episode of Thundercats came out. I don't think it was as good as the first one, it has some cool moments and some lame moments. I am still excited to see how it goes though. |

| I'm really digging Thundercats. Episode 3 and 4 were weak but the last few episodes have been awesome.
New season of Sons of Anarchy is off to a good start. The Rescue Me series finale was ok. I imagine the series finale of Entourage will be average at best. Breaking Bad is as solid as ever.
And then of course there's Jersey Shore. I know it's not nice to laugh at retarded people but dang, it's a guilty pleasure I can't get over. |

| You gotta watch Happy Endings (I think it's coming back soon? If not watch the first season, the gay guy is HILARIOUS.)
Also Modern Family for sure.
The New Girl looks pretty good, saw the first episode of that one.
Big Bang Theory had a scene last night with a remote kissing device that had me laughing harder than any network sitcom EVER.
Some pretty damn good sitcoms all of a sudden. I think it's a reaction to the shitty reality shows of the law decade. Thank God. |

| I am finding it tough to get motivated to check out all the new shows. I did catch a couple though.
I saw the first couple of episodes of "Revenge" and I don't totally hate it. It is basically the count of monte cristo but redone in the Hamptons in modern times. It is kinda girly, focusing on the relationships and whatnot, but I do like the revenge side of the show. I watched the first couple and am going to check out one more to see if the revenge stuff outweighs the lameness.
I am glad to hear Dexter was good, I am trying to hold off till it is officially released to try and minimize the pain of waiting for the next episode.
Alphas is a pretty good show so far as well. It is much like heroes where it deals with super powers. I am trying not to get too attached because in case it gets cancelled. I watched the first 7 or so episodes, they are up to like 11 or 12.
An Idiot Abroad season 2 is airing as well. I like the show but am not loving it, it just doesn't feel like it is living up the the potential. I only watched the first couple of episodes though so there is plenty of potential still.

| The only new shows I'm keeping tabs on are Fox's "Terra Nova" (A family travels back in time from a future where the Earth is dying to a new settlement in the time of the dinosaurs) and Showtime's "Homeland" (A CIA agent haunted by her failure to anticipate 9/11, worries that a rescued marine POW may be planning a terrorist act). Everything else that's come out this fall does nothing for me.
FYI, South Park starts up again this Wednesday (5th).

Do you still watch Survivor? They're up to season 23 which is insane to think about, but I still enjoy it. I also watch some of the other competitive reality TV such as The Amazing Race and Hell's Kitchen.
Also, House perhaps? I watch that mostly because he's an interesting character. The medical mysteries I don't care as much about. |

| I really liked the third season of Castle and the fourth is still interesting to me so far. I am hooked and would recommend checking it out.
The recent modern day Sherlock Holmes series from the BBC was surprisingly good and is available on netflix. Jeff's House comment reminded me of it. I recently learned that House was basically Sherlock Holmes as a medical doctor, which I can't believe I never noticed before.
I feel your pain though, I am finding it difficult to find good stuff to watch as well. I have been checking out the new TV shows but don't really love any of them. Charlies Angels is ok, nice "scenery" to distract from unrealistic plots. Ringer is kind of interesting too, though with even more of an unrealistic plot...you have to work hard to suspend your disbelief.

the animated show unsupervised is ok so far too, it is like a more "actual show" version of bevis and butthead.

| Newsroom - My wife and I watched two episodes and quit. I know Aaron Sorkin gets all sorts of kudos for his sharp and intelligent dialogue, but I disagree. I think a lot of the characters speak in overly wordy monologues that are completely unrealistic. I mean, no one speaks the way a number of characters in Newsroom speak. I felt like I was watching a form of propaganda, and I was annoyed by it. While the dialogue was interesting, it required almost the same suspension of disbelief as a science fiction or monster movie. I didn't feel I was watching normal humans interact.
Dexter- I felt Season 4 was the best season, and that Season 5 and (particularly) Season 6 had taken the series downhill. Dexter had jumped the shark a few too many times. This season, however, is showing some real promise. I'm hooked again.
Walking Dead - I'm hoping they didn't use it all up in the first episode of Season 3. I actually liked Season 2, but I think most people were getting bored. The series needed some reinvigoration to ensure a Season 4 and/or Season 5. The premiere of Season 3 definitely delivered.
Homeland - Tried four episodes, but didn't care for it. Maybe having Damien Thorn (Dick Winters from Band of Brothers) playing an ambiguous character killed it for me. I dunno, I just wasn't compelled to continue watching. I don't get all the awards it won. Thorn's wife in the show was pretty hot though! |

| Homeland - Have to agree with you here Blue, I really don't get the praise the show has received. There's nothing really there to write home about. About Damian's wife on the show...that's Morena Baccarin of Firefly/SG-1/V remake fame.
Some other shows that are back..
* Boardwalk Empire is recently aired episode 5 of the 3rd season. Still a solid show.
* Big Bang Theory is back but I'll be honest, the new season so far has done nothing for me.
* Bering Sea Gold: Under the Ice recently aired. From what I can tell, it's pretty much season 2 of the original show.
* It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia started last week and I think it started strong.
* For those into American Horror Story, the second season started last night. Haven't seen it yet but if it's half as good as the first season I'm sure it'll be worth it.
* South Park is back (2nd half of the 16th season started late September)
* Duck Dynasty - 2nd season of red neck hilarity ensues. Those guys crack me up.
* The Office - started off ok but man they really need to end the series.
* Family Guy is back if you like that show.
* Started watching Scandal which is now in season 2. Hard to describe but I'm liking it so far.
As for new shows, I'll admit to taking a guilty pleasure in watching Arrow (only because I liked Smallville and I'm interested in their interpretation of Green Arrow). Also seen a few episodes of Last Resort - nothing spectacular, but I'll keep watching it for now. Nothing else from the new fall line up really stood out for me.
If you're into westerns, there was a recent 3-part mini-series "Hatfields & McCoys" with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton - very well done if you ask me.
Upcoming Returning Shows...
* Spartacus (Season 3) - January 2013
* Suits (continuing Season 2) - January 2013
* Archer (Season 4) - January 19, 2013 |

| I got totally hooked on Xena when it was originally airing, probably in the 2nd or 3rd season. The channel showing it did a weekend long marathon and happened to bunch up a group of Calisto episodes. I couldn't look away, it was one of those "come for the metal clad boobs, stay for the cool show" experiences. I still love Hudson Liek (calisto) and wish we saw her in more stuff.
I am cautiously optimistic about the new green arrow show "arrow" as well. I watched the first two episodes and liked it but it really could go either way still. |

| I didn't look back through the comments to see if someone else mentioned it, but there is a Walking Dead game that you can get on Steam. It's sort of a point and click adventure type game or interactive story. It's very good, lots of hard decisions and themes you see on the show. It's done in episodes and the last one was recently released. If you like the show I highly recommend it.

| If you're looking for gold-related shows, you can add Bamazon (History channel) to the list. It's not as good as Bering Sea Gold though. Haven't seen Jungle Gold or Gold Rush Alaska yet. I'll have to check those out some time. |

| New show out that looks promising. It's called "The Americans" and it airs on FX. From the wiki description "It is a 1980s Cold War drama about a group of Soviet KGB officers who have been trained to impersonate American citizens, so that each one can become a sleeper agent, with a cover which may even include an unwitting spouse and family.".
If you're into spies, espionage and the cold war era you should check it out. |

| Game of Thrones - March 31 (Season 3)
Arrested Development - May 4 (all 14 episodes of season 4 will be released on the same day exclusively via Netflix)
Dexter - June 30 (Season 8)
Breaking Bad - July 14 (last 1/2 of season 5)
Sons of Anarchy - Sept 11 (Season 5)
South Park - Sept 25 (Season 17)
oh, and season 3 of Duck Dynasty just started
Edit: For those interested in political dramas, I'd recommend House of Cards (only on Netflix - INFO). Kevin Spacey did a great job with that role.

| You can buy Game of Thrones Season 1-2 on Bluray in a boxed set Nebu. Definitely the best production I've seen in a TV Series. Wish I could watch Season 3 but alas...no cable ) = |

| You need to start watching House of Cards. It's basically about how Kevin Spacey plays the game of politics. |

| If you`re currently watching Game of Thrones; In season 1 Ned Stark sends men to capture The Mountain (The Hounds brother) for sacking the Riverlands which is Catelyn Starks` homeland. These men are The Brotherhood in season 3.
And the guy torturing Theon Greyjoy is Lord Boltons(one of Ned Starks bannerman) bastard. |

That's probably the one sub-plot that had my head scratching. It's interesting the parts they choose to include/exclude in the TV show. I'm about 60% through book 4 in the series and no where up to that point is Theon's storyline addressed after the events of his...how shall we say, extracurricular activities in Winterfell. If memory serves, his name is Ramsey Bolton.
Have to say though, they're doing a damn good job keeping the essence of the books in tact.

| One new show you might want to check out is Hannibal. It is a bit gory at times for my taste, but I do enjoy watching the FBI guys interact with him knowing he is eventually going to be found to be the cannibal we know from silence of the lambs. I have no idea how it is performing and if it will get renewed or not, but it is up to the 8th episode so far.
The SHIELD (as in avengers, not bad cops) TV show trailer is out too, not sure when it starts airing though. I have faith in Joss so expect it to be good. It actually reminds me of the "Ultimate Spider-man" cartoon that is currently in it's second season. That is a fairly good show for a cartoon as well.
I am sure you have heard of Defiance as well. That is the SyFy show that has an MMOFPS set in the same universe with the same characters knocking about. I am very much on the fence about the show. It has a super high potential to go cheesy-lame...but there is a chance of it going the other way too.
The final show I have discovered recently is Vice on HBO. It is a news/documentary show that goes to interesting or dangerous places and is quite compelling. I am glad that HBO tossed them some funding since I tend to feel like most news isn't worth watching. |
