| Are you calculating the tax you'll pay at Gamestop? Or do you get taxed on Amazon purchases as well?
I try to buy at my local Gamestop if it is within $5 of my online purchase before taxes since they just put one in close to me and the guys have been really good to me in asking their opinions on the latest games. |

| BTW once you start playing the game the most frustrating part was figuring out the difference between Doubt and Lie during interrogation. Lie means you have evidence to prove they are lying. Doubt means you think they are lying but you have no proof. Took me a while to understand this. |

| Really harsh autosave in this one. The interrogations are a bit frustrating due to the vague nature of "doubt". What the hell does that mean, anyway? But the game is good.
It feels like RDR, though, Grand Theft Auto without the ballscrazy stuff to do. It makes me want to put GTA back in, hijack a helicopter and have some fun because I can't do stuff like that in their other games. I don't get why the game is open world. |

| SPOILER ALERT: Not much of a spoiler since it`s the very first interrogation and they give you a bunch of retries if you mess up but this will give you a good idea of the difference between lie and doubt.
Lie: You know he killed the guy and he says he has no idea what you`re talking about but you have an eye witness account of it, you have proof that someone said he killed the dude.
Doubt: His motives were racially driven, you merely heard that the other dude hates jews, but you have no proof that he did it b/c of that, so you doubt him. |

| Akebono, the first case was incredibly obvious. The harder part is trying to tell what is truth and what is doubt. It's obvious when someone is lying, because you have evidence to back it up with (otherwise you won't be accusing them of lying). The entire game is based around you being able to tell the difference in facial expressions. That doesn't really work if you don't know the person, or whatever specific tics are.
They could have done the street crimes without being open world. In fact they kind of do, because you can only get them at certain points and times.
I am enjoying the game, but I am also looking at Witcher 2 and wondering if I chose well. I would have preferred a PC game. |

| The basis of the game is this, first search for clues, that way you have evidence to "prove" certain things later on in the conversation.
Interrogate them, sometimes they really do just tell the truth, but watch for them if they make eye contact or not, stutter, make weird gestures, this probably means they are lying.
If they are lying but you have no proof, hit doubt and try to get more out of them. If they are lying and you do have proof, then click lie, they will respond with "oh really detective, then prove it" at which point you have use your notebook to click to the evidence that you think proves them wrong.
It`s tough b/c you have this huge list of clues you have and if you say lie and you select the wrong clue, you`re screwed and they stop talking about the issue. |

| Akebono's right. I'm almost done with the game, I believe, and if someone is lying or not giving up the entire truth, they will:
Bite their lips, look to the sides, keep their eyes closed, cross their arms, or be very blunt and hostile, staring straight at you. This last one can be tricky. There's a few people in the game that act like this, and it's hard to tell what they're telling the truth about because they're obviously guilty, yet sure that they'll get away with it.
And if you want to score well during the case, do *not* hit civilians or harm them in any way. Sometimes this is very hard to do because apparently hearing a police siren means "I need to act like a completely maniacal retard right this instant".

| I need to get this game as well, hopefully my many years of looking at Law & Order interrogations on TV will help.. haha. There are many ways to see if someone is lying or not. Some people can hide this completely if they know how to suppress those signals. The first thing you always have to do is establish a base line in which you know 100% sure if someone is lying or not. You have evidence, but the suspect doesn't know what evidence you have. Ask questions on which you already know the answer to establish this baseline for you. Other signals;
- Suspect avoids answering the real question;
- Sweating;
- Eye movement;
- Sudden change in voice tone;
- Pausing before answering a question;
- Not looking you directly in the eyes;
- Constant swallowing (lying makes your throat dry).
Try changing the subject quickly every now and again, that way the suspect will not have a lot of time to completely build up a lie in his head. Keep repeating the same question over and over again etc.

| Finished it. I started off really liking the game, but sadly it began to get really lame about halfway through. I'm not going to bother with another playthrough.
To the completionists: take the emergency calls as they come in, because from what I understand if you don't take them they're gone forever. Once you finish the game, you don't go into a sandbox mode like you do with other Rockstar games. |

| For those wondering: the game takes about 25 hours to finish if you drive from place to place and do most of the side missions. If you skip as many driving parts as you can, it's doable in about 20. |

| I made a mistake... you can get the side mission calls after completing a mission. When you are at the alley once you start the game (not the main quest, but put the game in the cartridge), you can scroll up or down. You'll see that the shadow in the background changes from RESUME to NEW, CASES, EXTRAS, etc. Pick cases, choose a folder, then pick free roam mode. |

| No it's just really confusing. For example last night I have 1/2 a letter found at the killers home, and the other 1/2 was at the crime scene. So I say the guy is lying, and present the 1/2 of letter as my proof. It says no failed. Then the NEXT question, I just do the same thing, then for some reason it worked on the 2nd question but not the first question. Such a crock of shit. That part is hard. There's comics about it. The only way to get the questions right is to use a cheat guide, which I'm not doing. |

| The interrogation part is the only part that is "hard" to me, but that's not really the right word. Bullshit is more accurate. They should be more flexible about "correct" questions. It's also impossible to determine when to use doubt or lie, because you don't even know what Cole is going to say when you choose an option. And like you said, there are definitely times when you choose lie, pick evidence that is absolutely correctly, and they are like "nope!" Bullshit. Totally ruins the game for me. |

When you found all the clues in one area, the music stops but you get the "ding" sounds once you pass near evidence you examine. While the music is still going, you don't get the "ding" sounds near evidence you have already examined.
I think that's how it works... confused the hell out of me too. |

| I was waiting until Nebu beat it to talk about the story. It was so damn awful. It needed an editor ridiculously bad. There were so many ass-backwards plot decisions that made no sense at all, that I'm left wondering what got cut out of the game, and why they didn't patch those parts up with logic.
The ending was particularly bad. One of the worst game/book/film endings I've seen in quite a while. |

If he was a BY THE BOOK GUY through the whole game, then why did he cheat on his wife? That made no sense. That german lady wasn't even hot. Why did he cheat, then never look back. She was old looking and unattractive.
Why wasn't his wife/kids at the funeral.
The marine cut scenes were all horrible looking, probably because they didn't have the background scenes to fit the city.
*The whole oh I have to redeem myself because we killed a Japanese hospital in a cave thing is f-ing retarded. Those stories didn't show up much until Vietnam.
*From Bryan: "you never saw Monroe get convicted or the Dahlia Killer get exposed" "I thought maybe I got the bad ending" haha
*Why is the dirty cop delivering the eulogy. The one responsible for getting him demoted.
*Why is he getting a cops funeral when he was caught helping defend Kelso.
*Why is Kelso not in jail when everyone was chasing him.
*Why didn't the dirty cop leader just kill the Assistant DA.
*From Bryan: hah, one of the comments on the ending video makes a good point: ok, but still as roy says: ''-a cop, wrongly accused.'' so what was he wrongly accused for? he did cheat on his wife didn't he?
*And game doesn't let you skip the credits

| You should register for trueachievements.com- the site is great for achievement help. Your L.A. Noire progress is missing the four most recent achievement you've gotten because it only scans non-registered members once per week.
If you have any interest at all in achievements, this site great. Especially since it assigns a weighted score to every achievement based on difficulty. I discovered TA about a year ago, registered to check my stats, and then didn't bother with it until last September, when I decided that I wanted to work on achievement completion in all the games I had played. At that point, I had about 35% completion, but I've spent the last eight or so months working on remedying that, bringing my overall completion percentage above 99%.
You've got just over 40% completion in 68 games. And here's what your detailed stats look like (at least a couple of days ago when you were scanned. |

What I hate the most about the game is how you lose more and more control as the game progresses. You don't choose whether or not to cheat on your wife, then shortly after that you lose control of the main character entirely and start controlling some tard that you don't even care about for the last 1/5th of the game. The other major annoyance was the Dahlia letters mission, which was just dumb. |
