What a piece of shit. Seems like every program starts off cool (not this one in particular) then bloats up until it's an unusable piece of shit:
Microsoft Office
Winamp
ICQ
ACDSee
You just want a program to be as useful as it was when you first got it and to not change unless they add features you actually need. Seems like every program should offer a classic or SLIM version to the people that don't want a bunch of crap attached.
This is a classic problem of companies. They add all this bloat thinking they are making a `better product because it has more features`.
But you use the product only to perform a particular job. More features often means the product doesn`t perform that job as well.
You forgot about my favorite piece of bloated crap, Acrobat Reader. Why does it take the better part of a minute to start an application that views documents? Why is the installer 30 MB? Why is there a patch every other week for yet another vulnerability?
It started out okay, and was a great alternative to shuffling Postscript files around. But then they started adding features that few people really care about. And then scripting ruined the whole thing.
Unfortunately, since it's the "standard", hundreds of man-hours every year are wasted in IT departments everywhere patching this thing.
Yeah Nero is a good example as well. At one point they started delivering this piece of crap software full of useless stuff.
Oh and what's even worse about Adobe; why the hell do you need to install some weird download accelerator for a program so small? Just stay away from that crap.
I use winamp 5, and to this day it works fine.
2 was amazing.
3 was a POS.
They realized that and made 5 work like 2 but have the overlay of 3. (There was no 4).
I have Zero problems with winamp 5 and run it in classic mode/skin.
As for ACDSee, I have been using Irfanview, which works for every image type and has a decent amount of features.

It's especially aggravating after you get used to using something like Foxit Reader on a regular basis.
Perhaps an even better example (though not as well known) is Roxio and Nero CD/DVD burning software. Talk about bloat...I switched to CDBurnerXP (installer is less than 5MB in size!) and I haven't looked back since. It offers pretty much all the core functionality that Roxio/Nero do but it's exponentially smaller, faster, and best of all free.

My favorite thing about Microsoft LYNC is there is another Microsoft developer technology called LINQ. Meaning if you try to talk to a Microsoft developer about your experience with LYNC, they will be very confused.
