Where to begin with this whole story? It's all out of a terrible sequel to the Facebook Movie. I don't see how this guy and the people he affiliated himself with are going to be able to fight the charges. They seemingly OPENLY supported piracy/copyright infringement. The money laundering stuff, too? Forget about it. They even got the cops in his own country (New Zealand) to cooperate. They were out to make an example.

I love how this guy also proves the maxim: Chicks will tolerate almost any gnarly-looking guy if he's loaded. DOTCOM was an absolute troll, but was always around tons of chicks. I'm sure some of them had to bang him, right? Haha

Mayumi Heene was sentenced to 20 days in jail for her role, which she'll serve after her husband completes his time.

Richard Heene -- the moron behind the Balloon Boy hoax -- was just sentenced to 90 days in jail for his role in the October incident.

Consumers are not only buying fewer DVDs these days, they're also renting fewer -- at least from brick-and-mortar video stores like Blockbuster. The No. 1 DVD rental chain reported a third-quarter loss of $116 million versus a loss of $20.6 million during the comparable quarter a year ago. The company blamed the latest staggering loss on the costs incurred in paying severance to hundreds of dismissed employees, shutting down unproductive stores, and refinancing debt -- in effect saying that it costs money to save money. The cost-cutting, it noted, will continue during the current quarter with 115 more stores due to be shuttered by the end of the year. On the brighter side of things, Blockbuster said that it is moving more aggressively into the kiosk business and plans to have 2,500 opened by the end of the year. In a conference call on Thursday, Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes said that his company was also focusing on online delivery with its Blockbuster On Demand. "There's really only one threat to Blockbuster, and that's if we don't adapt," he said.

Link - What's funny is I drove through that compound every day on the way to high school. That place is seriously in the middle of nowhere but a public road goes right down the middle. I've posted about them before. They were always building for 10+ years showing they steal lots of money from people. They also were super annoying in how they crossed the street until they built an underground tunnel under the road. A federal judge has ruled that RealNetworks' RealDVD player violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and slapped a preliminary injunction on the company that bars it from selling the software in the U.S. RealNetworks had contended that its software merely allowed users to make backup copies of their DVDs, but the Motion Picture Association of America, which represents the major U.S. film studios, had argued that it also allowed users to make copies of DVDs they had rented. In a statement following the ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn Hall Patel, the MPAA reiterated its accusation that RealNetworks "was willing to break the law at the expense of those who create entertainment content." RealNetworks did not immediately indicate whether it plans to appeal, saying only that it is reviewing the decision to determine a future course of action.
